“A lot of the new batch of songs I was building up for my sixth record mostly had a mid to late nineties flavour about them. It could be worse..

I stuck to the resourceful approach in some ways- drums back in the forest, but I went for quality above all. I hired out an 1860’s (goldrush era) pub out in the plains of central Victoria and laid down all the guitars there. Undeniably, the sound quality is the best I’ve been able to do.

Erika broke down in 2016 and after the relief and excitement of getting her back on the road I wrote her a song..

“Sail Away”, Settle Down” and “Erika” were all lovely surprises. Most of the “90’s” songs were removed for prosperity. From memory I think “Grand Plan” is the only one of those that I put on the record.
