Silver and Gold (2015)

My first 3 albums all kept fairly well away from singer-songwriter acoustic material.

I was in the mood to mellow out a bit and make an easy record, because believe me, acoustic singer songwriter records are easy to make. But there was going to be a catch…

I decided to record the 4th one only outside, including mixing. And that’s how it was done. Drums in a forest, bass by a lake, guitars by the beach and vocals where ever my muse decided.

I had about 5 songs with “Silver and Gold” popping up in the lyrics so that became the title. Not all of the Silver and Gold songs were put on the album.

“California” was written in a hotel in California called “Hotel California”.

The music for “Wyall” was written in the gutter of Wyall Street, Brunswick West and the lyrics were written on a beach on the north east coast of Australia.

5 of the songs were written one after the other in about 20 minutes in Tasmania on the trip to buy Erika.
